How long will it take to...?
| How long will it take for me to receive a quote? |
| During business hours, we reply to most quotes within 2 hours, with all requests received overnight being processes first thing in the morning. Accordingly, authors within similar time zones to our New Zealand base (e.g., Japan, China, and South Korea) will receive a quote within 2 hours, while authors in other time zones (e.g., Europe and South America) will receive a quote overnight. |

| When can I expect to receive the completed manuscript? |
| Our standard service returns manuscripts within 4–6 working days. |

What if I need the work done urgently? |
| For urgent jobs, please request our Rush Service. Your manuscript will be edited within 1–2 business days depending on the size of the manuscript. |

Pricing and payment
| How much will it cost to edit my manuscript? |
| The base rate for our service is ¥1600/ €10.70/ US$15.50 per 250-word page. Please see our pricing page for further details. |

| Can you provide a quote and accept payment in my currency? |
| We provide quotes and accept online credit card payments and payments by bank transfer in 12 currencies, including ¥, €, USD, KRW, CNY, HKD, and SGD. |

| What if my manuscript needs more or less editing than average? |
| We offer a discount of 10-20% for well-written manuscripts that require relatively little editing. Manuscripts that require intensive editing incur a 20% increase to the base fee. Any reduction or increase in the base fee will be clearly explained within your quote. |

| How can I pay for the editing service? |
| We accept payment using our secure online credit card facility as well as bank checks and bank transfer. Please see our payments page for full details. |

| When do I have to make my payment? |
| Payment is only required once you are 100% happy with the edited manuscript. If you are happy with the returned manuscript, payment is due within 14 days of receiving your document. If you have additional questions concerning your edited manuscript, payment is due within 14 days of having your questions answered and returned to you. The one exception to this policy is exceptionally large manuscripts, for which we may request a deposit. |

| Is it secure to pay online using my credit card? |
We offer the highest levels of security when making your payment online. Your credit card details are entered on a secure page hosted by a company that specializes in processing secure online credit card payments for all of the major banks in New Zealand. Your credit card details are encrypted using SSL technology and are not sent to Stallard Scientific Editing at any time. |

| What are the steps involved in having my manuscript edited? |
1. Request a free, no-obligation quote.
During business hours, we reply to most quotes within 2 hours. Accordingly, authors within similar time zones to our New Zealand base (e.g., Japan, China, and South Korea) will receive a quote within 2 hours, while authors in other time zones (e.g., Europe and South America) will receive a quote overnight. 2. Accept the quote by return email.
3. We edit your job to the highest standards and return it within 4–6 business days (standard service).
4. If you are happy with the edited document, you have 14 days to make your payment using one of our convenient payment methods. If you have questions concerning the edited manuscript, please use our free Ask-the-Editor Service. Simply type your questions into the relevant parts of the text and return the document to us. We will endeavour to answer your questions within 2 business days. There is no additional charge for this service. Once your questions have been satisfactorily answered, you have 14 days to make your payment.

| What types of files can I send? |
| Most clients send us their text in a Microsoft Word file, while figures are generally sent as Word, PowerPoint, or PDF files. If you have other requirements, please contact us. |

| Do you edit LaTeX files? |
| Yes, we have considerable experience in editing LaTeX files within Microsoft Word. Our editors generally work from the Word file and an accompanying PDF file of the manuscript. |

| Can you provide a letter stating that my manuscript has been edited by a native-English speaker? |
| Yes, simply let us know of your requirements. There is no charge for this service. |

| Can you format my manuscript to the requirements of a specific journal? |
| Yes. Simply indicate this option when applying for a quote and provide the journal name and web address (URL) of the journal homepage. Please note that a small surcharge applies for this service. |

| Who will edit my manuscript, and what background will they have in science and editing? |
Our native-English speaking editors are carefully selected and trained in-house to ensure a first-class editing service for our clients. Most of our editors are New Zealand scientists with postgraduate degrees and a strong background in research and/or industry who actively combine careers in editing and research; many are published authors and have experience as reviewers for international journals. We make sure that your manuscript is edited by a specialist in your field with excellent writing and editing skills. |
